Do we live in a Blame Culture?

Risk Assessment

As you can tell, when I’m not on the road I read too much news about the Ambulance Service…

was reading this particular article which wound me up!

This is an incident in London where a patient had to wait a whole 16 minutes for an Ambuance – I’m sure some people would welcome an Ambulance in 16 minutes!!

Apparently the Paramedic did a dynamic risk assessment and made a decision to not enter the block of flats without the Police.  I’m sure there is more to this story than is published in the press, however I can think of quite a few times when I will make a choice to not enter a building without backup.

The problem with the NHS and the American Blame Culture that we live in today quite simply means that we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t!

Blame Culture

Quite simply this Paramedic is being investigated because he was concerned about the scene and chose to not enter the premises in order to protect himself, however if he had gone in and had been attacked he would have been investigated for not completing a Dynamic Risk Assessment

Someone remind me why we bother….
