How to Use This Blog

Categorized Under: Ambulance News 2 Commented

I was inspired by a post on another blog that I read Give it Diesel and have decided to borrow his idea in the hope of getting people to come back and also add a comment or two…..

Why Do I Blog?

I have been in the Ambulance service for 6 years and started off as a “Trainnee Ambulance Paramedic” which then became an “Ambulance Technician” and now a “Student Paramedic” – I hope to reach the dizzy heights of being a “Paramedic” in July 2010.

The idea of my blog was originaly (as Angry Tech) was to rant a bit about the rubbish that we get sent to but also to use it as a bit of therapy by giving me a bit of a release.  A secondary objective was to hopefully entertain a few people along the way.  My focus has shifted a little after having nearly a year off of the road and I have become a little more focused, although Angry Tech does creep back into my writing style every now and then….

I have devided my blog up into various sections

Ambulance | Ambulance News | Angry Tech | Everything Else | Funny | Paramedic Education

Ambulance
This section is for things that I see on the road and thoughts that pop into my head whilst out and about doing my thing.

Ambulance News
This section covers items that I see in the news, which at the moment is unfortunately happening far too often.

Angry Tech
This section is for all of the posts in my old blog.

Everything Else
This section has anything in it that I can’t fit into one of the other Categories

Funny
Occasionaly I get sent or see jokes of a medical nature, I will put those in here – so if you have any, just send em over.

Paramedic Education
In this area I will discuss items that come up during my university education and also with other educational or training aspects of my career.

What is a Blog?

I have found a great little video that explains blogs on You Tube – Blogs in Plain English (with an American Accent)

Blog Features

For those of you that aren’t technologically savvy I’ll explain some of the features that you can find on my blog page. The page is split into two parts essentially. The large section on the left is where I publish my posts for you to read and interact with by leaving comments. On the right you find the sidebar and this contains different sections that make reading this blog a little easier.

What is RSS?

In the sidebar you should see an orange square that looks like this

RSS

if you click on this icon or the text next to it you will directed to a web page that will allow you to receive my blog posts in a feed reader. You should be doing this with every blog and website that you read. Basically RSS has replaced bookmarks so no longer do you need to constantly recheck many blogs just to see if on the off chance a new post had been published. Watch this short video and I trust that you will see the error of your ways.

The Sidebar

Also contained in the sidebar is a Recent Entries section. This is simply a list of the last five posts that I’ve published. Feel free to check back over any you have missed. Below that is a  bit about me. Beyond the Calendar which shows dates when I created blog entries and the Tag Cloud showing the major key words of my blog entries is the Mutual Aid Section, this is a list of clickable links to the EMS blogs that I read which will update based on entries that they have posted on their own blogs, below that is an alphabetical list of links of those blogs and other releant resources. Click on any of these for a new twist on all things EMS.

And Finally…

After reading this page and watching the video clip there are only two things left to do.

Firstly leave a comment below so that I know who you are and you get the chance to promote your own blog.

Secondly, click on this wonderful looking button  and subscribe to my blog!
